    Default Apple January Event.

Rumours going around that Apple will be holding a media event in late January.

Likely because they've held one in late January every year for the past few years.

    I'm skeptical at the moment.

I'm sure they stressed it was merely for PR purposes and not unveiling new products?

According to MacRumors, it'll be based around iBooks; digital text books and education.

Indeed, that's what is currently top of the list. Lots of places are wondering if Apple are going to try and take on Amazon again with e-books, so the idea it's strictly a PR event is accurate - they only need to highlight they offer e-books for the iPad, iPhone etc., and reveal new ways of dragging people into buying/downloading from them.

I think in many ways Amazon is one of the biggest threats to Apples tablet market. With their kindle fire. So I think Apple might try and fight back with iBooks ect.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the event. I can't imagine what Apple will do though to compete - unless they're going to offer cheaper books and do something differently to the competition. Their main problem is the price and, of course, the obvious - Amazon is cross-platform.
