    soz bethie. I was gonna reply but most of it has been said by yourself and @Chippiewill;
    Posting competitions create nothing but pointless threads and they're nothing more than a short remedy to a much wider problem. Then again, there's not much point complaining because nobody is offering an alternative solution anyway. I haven't posted in the majority of threads, simply because I don't care about how many pets people have... or what someone is listening to, for that matter! :rolleyes:

    I don't think you got my memo about childish, petty, sly and sarcastic comments which completely lower the tone and offer no gratification to anyone.

    Let's remember it's only a fansite guys, no need to get irate!

    Yea a discussion on how to feel awake in the morning, not a random post 'remember chairman mao' Stephen made a constructive post but then the orange juice comment was pointless and obviously edited. Really don't like your attitude and claim that the mods only seem to warn/infract people if they are non staff which is not the case. Also if anything, I think the mods are too lenient. How many temporary bans do people need before getting permed? :S

    Some of the threads that can't really create discussion should be closed like stuff you can only really answer yes or no to. At the end of the day people moan to moan. Even if we didn't have the odd pointless post people would still find something to moan about. This is how I see it but perhaps the mash between my ears needs cleaning, pointless posts or not here we go: More threads = more posts = more users = more discussion = hxf win = jim and shrek becomes rich. Just deal with it. Don't worry about what other people post, if everyone who posted a thread like this put more thought into their posts and less thought into others the forum would be ******* amazing. Besides, If a user annoys you that much for you to create a thread complaining about it, why not just ignore them?

    I was just about to post about this, with all the threads being closed 'due to one word answers' - surely one word answers are better than none?

    I don't see the problem with a joke post as long as it's not completely irrelevant. Stephens post had some relevance to what someone said therefore it wasn't pointless. The problem is that there's no recognition in what threads are intended for some serious discussion or criticism, graphics, debates, current affairs should always involve something directly contribution to the OP or expanding something which relates to the OP. Something less serious where it's just general interest like "What socks do you wear" should be allowed to be more free and have a joke like Stephens where it takes a comment and comments on it, even if the comment isn't serious. No one expects a debate or anything like that from these sorts of threads so I don't really see why it is treated like that. However if I am to post in graphics, debates etc. I would expect something which I could then build in, I'm sure the creator of a thread like "What socks do you wear" does not actually care about the type of socks I have and is just posting blindly. Infact, if Stephens post is considered pointless why are those sorts of threads not? They don't spark much, if any, conversation.

    This thread has gotten way out of hand. If you think someone is pointlessly posting, report it. Obviously mods will be slightly biased when editing posts, as users who cause more trouble draw a lot more attention to themselves from the mods so obviously mods are going to pick up more on things known trouble makers e.g stephen do rather than say someone like mathew (just an example). I think everyone’s making a huge deal out of nothing, and tbh the mods have been a lot more lenient recently.

    This is where the problem is, and this is what is going to be sorted within the next day or so. It's clear there isn't a criteria to what is a pointless post, and it would be so much easier if there was one so both moderators and members are coming from the same point of view. Threads like "What socks do you wear" or "What did you recently eat" are being discussed as we speak and if all goes to plan something could happen which should be better for the forum and save hassle in the future when it comes to the forum rules and these 1-2 worded, pointless threads.

    The thread Stephen posted in had a purpose and was generally looking for advice, I would say it was a serious thread and the thread starter wasn't creating that thread expecting a giggle and laugh to come from it.
