It's fine as it is. You can't just say 'tablets, mobiles and PDAs' 'cos loads of other stuff goes in there; USB drives, music players, some portable external hard drives, cameras, other technology that's small... The forum desc says 'not laptops' so I don't really see what the big problem is ;s

the problem is a laptop is portable, and some threads moved to it are not and samm just seems to move anything

The problem here is a lack of common sense. A HDD, USB stick or what have you shouldn't be in portable devices. Portable Devices should be for Tablets, Mobile phones, PDAs, portable consoles or whatever that serve more than one function.

Or in the iPod Touch case above, it's talking about the file, not the iPod, and as such should have been left in Technology.

Just get rid of the damned sub forum IMO.

A TV remote is a portable device, but it shouldn't go in that forum. Tablets, mobiles and PDAs are fine.

If it's going to be restricted to just those things then I don't see the point in it at all. I'll remove it later tonight, I'm just busy sorting other issues at the moment. Thanks for the feedback!

I personally don't think that the main tech discussion forum is THAT busy tbh, and neither is the portable devices subforum so having it as one forum for all makes sense really considering activity is probably lower than it was etc. Would prevent confusion and stuff too.

nah, that is true, but I guess it just varies from case to case really. Like in the past I can imagine having a sub forum for phones etc would have been useful and stuff, especially for people who are into phones and ting, but im also thinking that the actual tech discussion forum was a lot busier back then.

I guess it doesnt really matter which way it goes since they will still be used the same either way, might just block out a bit of navigation which could be good for people noticing threads about phones more and replying I guess if theyre not hidden away in a subforum
