Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. These are by far the best books I have ever read, regardless of genre. I also recommend The Power of 5 series by Anthony Horowitz.

If you enjoy fast-paced, well-written fantasy with an intricate storyline then either of these series are for you.

I'm into the kinda fantasy/supernatural books...
So the book the 'Night World' (I think thats what it's called) written by L.J Smith is definitely a good read if your into that kinda of thing.
Theirs 3 volumes..and each volume or book has three stories in it..but it all adds up..and it is all kinda one story which you'll understand more off in the third volume.

    George Orwell - Burmese Days

Classic tale of imperial discourse in the waning years of the British Raj.

But it probably won't be picked, because judging from some books, people on here like poorly written modern rubbish.
