I get a 1 on the back and sides then leave the top long but have it blend with a lot of weight taken out of it

i have really think hair and it's so hard to do anything with. i normally just let it grow until everyone starts moaning that i need a haircut then i just go in and say 'i dont know what i want really, just try and sort it out'. then repeat about 6 months later.
