There is quite a massive hype among the people I am usually around (musical geeks ND WOT). Not gonna lie, as much as I love musicals, I couldn't give two monkeys. I've never really got Les Mis, but I'll probably end up being dragged to watch it anyway.
I really want to watch this, can't wait until I get my wages so I can go
.
I saw the stage show in November because I wanted to see that before the film, as i thought the film would be better and didn't want to be disappointed by the west end show. I was not disappointed. Amazing. I knew the story, unlike a couple of my friends I went with, and we were all moved to tears despite knowing what was coming.
If Anne Hathaway doesn't win an Oscar to go with her Golden Globe she will have been robbed unfairly. She was the stand out performance and was only a supporting actress.
Will probably see it again in the cinema haha.
Also one note, if you don't have a clue about the French revolutions I would have a read up on the basic history or read a specific history of Les Mis because if you don't know who the school boys and army are or the situation in France then you may get a bit lost.

Ok les mis nerd coming through... (no joke I can recite the whole musical word to word)
saw it on sunday freaking cried through the whole thing. the cast was fantastic and they made such a good job of it. Anne and Samantha (my god though can her stomach be any smaller!??!!!) were just breathtaking.
I'm already planning to see it again ahhhhhhhh beyond excited.
They were saying Anne Hathaway should really be winning the Oscar, primarily because of her singing on something I watched. I love Anne Hathaway so I do hope she wins an Oscar, would be an awful shame if she didn't. Had to wait a while until I saw it as my friend is going for her birthday, so I'll be going on Friday (providing it doesn't snow loads ;||||) and I can't wait. :-)I saw the stage show in November because I wanted to see that before the film, as i thought the film would be better and didn't want to be disappointed by the west end show. Oh god, went and watched it tonight, it's fair to say I was a complete wreck. Such a great film. The deaths and near deaths had me crying throughout, but it was the ending that absolutely destroyed me, my friends were laughing so hard at how bad I was. The ending was really, hmm.. powerful. Great movie, I can't wait until it's out on DVD.
Also, Anne Hathaway....

Haven't heard of anyone who has been disappointed yet. It was incredible and i'm going to go again before it leaves the cinema. It's too good!
Oh, I have. My two friends at school were so disappointed with it, but I honestly can't see how. I think they were expecting flawless singing and things.
Watched it opening night I loved it! People were criticising Russel Crowe's and Hugh Jackman's voices but they sounded fine to me. I would listen to the broadway soundtrack instead of the movie one but the acting was incredible. Samantha Burke was amazing and I loved the little boy who played Gavroche. I've read the book and I was hoping they would make a reference to the fact that.... *Spoiler kind of*
Eponine and Gavroche were siblings as when Eponine dies they pan out and Gavroche is crying in the corner but if you didn't know it wouldn't have the same impact
But thats just my opinion. Anne deserves that Oscar!
