I love Trivium, but i don't think they are gothic, more metal.
Nightwish are okay, but i don't really like gothic bands, i don't really like the operaness int the songs.

If there wasn't any opera in it, they'd just be another metal band. I think they've found a great, unique sound.

<---- LOOK!! this is me crying!! look what you did!

NONE of the bands mentioned above are gothic, they are as gothic as britney spears and s club 7.

    They are all metal.

Check out my posts in the 'what are you listening to' thread, im usually listening to some form of goth, however i do have the odd classic and dif genre songs.

For the record, I love 'Dead Can Dance' they do have a range of music and some of it is tribal, but alot is very gothic and im going through a phase where i listen to them alot. 'Sisters of Mercy' are a good band to start off with if your getting into goth, likewise with the 'The Southern Death Cult' and Ozzy Osbourne [he is dark, but not strictly goth, but good if you like metal].

    Hope i helped.

The term 'gothic' can be applied to any band slightly dark, from Evanescence to Ozzy Osbourne.
