Most of those my friend told me about.

    right right and right *overjoyed*
Siouxsie and the Banshees were the first influential 'gothic' band, it was only in the early 80's goth was established as a music genre, at the time they considered themselves a new wave punk band (goth came from punk).
It was manager of Joy Division that first used the term gothic to describe music, since then it has stuck to bands, such as the other ones you listed.
And yes, I would say the 69 eyes are gothic.
other big name goth bands :
    Alien S*x Fiend
    Christian Death
    Specimen
    Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
    The Mission UK

Bands like Evanescene and White Stripes are not gothic, but metal, however they may be influenced by such bands.
Needles & Sins, Sins & Needles
    He's gasping for air
    In the wishing well
Dust to rust, ashes on gashes
    Hand around the killing jar
