Default History of the British Rare Values Market - Hx Wiki

Just thought i'd post mainly for older UK users who are interested, that a few months ago and since i've been writing up a guide to document the history of the rare values market - using some old material I had saved on my old computer (including the graph which dates back a few years and has been updated as the years have passed) and i've put together a sort of 'brief' of the years of the British hotel and also the new English Speaking hotel.

The main page is here and the pages for each period of hotel history lead from it - http://www.habboxwiki.com/History_of..._Values_Market

It isn't all done yet but just wondered what anybody thought/if anybody has any favourite moments/favourite period for whatever reason or whether they simply did well in that given time in terms of furniture and wealth. I've always wanted to get it written up before I leave one day, so hopefully i'll have the rest finished over the next year or so whenever i'm feeling like typing it up.

Each period page (the two that are done) have a mini-graph so you can see whether it was a prosperous period or whether it was a poor one. Be interested to hear what users on here found to be their experiences at certain points in the markets history.

    Thoughts?

Looks like you've worked really hard on it. I didn't read it all because I didn't have time - is there anywhere in there about the importance of say the DJ Deck and Gold Amber.. My memory isn't the greatest but weren't gold ambers on UK worth like 10T at one point? I remember when they used to adorn Vodor's casino.

Oh man that made me remember UFD too Wonder what happened to these guys; Hachette, Ecko, Nisus, UFD, Nyxta, Bluueweesh (or w.e it was)

+rep for sure, I'd love to see it expanded. You've done a wonderful job so far.

You have worked very hard, well done

Most of my wealth came about during 2003-2005 when I was able to buy new rares and instantly trade them. My early years were spent in trade rooms. I remember buying the green and purple para’s, the green and grey birdbaths, the silver and bronze nellys, and even the red amber when it was first released, and instantly trading for club sofas.

Petals most love them, but not me, having been given some good advice; I traded one throne for club sofas in order to trade for petals, with the intention of waiting for around a year before picking them up and trading them back for club sofas. The petals rose to a ridiculous value, and I was then able to trade for two thrones. I wish I could remember the value, but I don't think I ever paid more than 21 club sofas for a throne.

I think it’s important to remember that during the early years the British Hotel had players from all over the world, and many did not have easy access to buying credits, so this was probably one of the better times to make a quick profit, there was always a demand for newly released rares.
It's the quality of your posts that count, not the quantity!

Dignity does not consist in possessing honours, but in deserving them.

I think Habbox Wiki has real potential as it doesn't have any serious competition.. and when you have quality writers like yourself, with the knowledge and experience, it can only get better and better.

This is a good Wiki post, I like it a lot. I would add my memory of the classic pillars and orientals bobbed around 0-10HC for most colours, fell to 5-10c for a while post-merge and now are rising again to, for example, 20c or so for the classic doric pillar alone, whilst a few of each type of item are supers at great values. Whereas once these items would be key in making opulent rooms, the diversity of new furniture negates their utility in some ways, and now they've fallen back in to more generally decorative pieces or collectibles.

The same can be said for many items, the plinth as a staple casino item, petals etc. There's always been a poor value for unusable rares at the lower end of the scale, but super-high if they're collectable, whereas the workable items that formed the basis of casinos and trade rooms etc would often be steady investments.
