Yeah, I always say thanks to them. I've never come across a driver that was a **** or an idiot towards me.

I try to but a lot of my busses at home have a door halfway down so they wouldn't be able to hear anyway lolol

I live in London, and no. I'm often last on the bus on one of the ten routes around me and I feel awkward being the last off because I want to say something but then at the same time I don't lol. So no, I don't.
