Default What do you see habbo as?

I used to see habbo as a hotel, which it was meant to be. But with large rooms, lots of nature. People creating huge amounts of outdoor lands...

Habbo to me is like an island. And habbo hotel is a hotel located on the island of habbo. That's what it feels like now lol, if you know what I mean.

I know it's a virtual word... But what do you see habbo is? You can make so much on it... It's clearly not what we think of a hotel lol. But it's always good to see it classed as one.

I've never called it 'Habbo Hotel' because it's far from how a hotel is, maybe it was meant to be like 1 originally? Idk.

Hard to really answer your question, to me it seems like a near dead community in the current state.

When I first played the game I must have been about 10. As a new experience it was really fun. It's hard to pin down, especially since it was so long ago now, but exploring the community, the user-created games, the sub-cultures, the limits within the game was all very exciting. There was always something new to learn about the game: some as yet undiscovered collection of rooms or wondering what kind of cool rare they'd bring out next or meeting a new group of people who seemed cool. By and large, Habbo Hotel was my first taste of the internet and it was so amazing that there was so much to take in. Consider also that the number of players online was much larger than it is at any given time nowadays as well.

Over time though, that feeling went away. As you play the game for a long time you begin to get a real sense and intuition for it. You know the ins and outs of virtually all aspects of the game. You know the rules and tactics to every user-made game, you can see the trends in furniture released and the economic reasons behind the prices. You know the subcultures so well that you can literally gleam information about people from the way their avatars dress and interact. Nothing is new anymore and everything is familiar.

I feel like I've always been trying to recapture how I felt playing the game as a kid and the sense of wonder I felt. That's when my fondest memories are. At the end I was getting nothing out playing Habbo and yet I do believe that for new users it's probably really fun just as it was for me way back when.

I still view it as a hotel, an eccentric one at that.
