    Default PlayStation 3 Memory

Hey, So i've got a PS3 and didn't look at the size of it before i ordered it and after a few hours on GTA, i went to switch to another game and it wouldn't install due to no space left... then found out I only had a 12GB one

What's the easiest way to increase the space?
Will I have to buy a bigger HD? Can I use an external HD?
Any help is appreciated and +rep

    Thanks

Apparently you should be able to use an external hard drive.

Here is a wikihow for it as you'll need to check the system file type for the drive and stuff.

That or apparently you can do the taking the side off and changing the harddrive - but that seems a lot harder.

I'm pretty happy I got the 500GB after reading those bits. x_x

How on earth did GTA V take up so much space? Even with the system taking up some of the space you should be able to play a few more games.

I suggest buying an external hard drive (500GB at least), turning it into a FAT32 system, transferring the files onto it and install another hard-drive into the console that is much larger e.g. 250, 320 or 500GB (if I recall correctly how sizes work). That way you have a spare external HDD just for the PS3 which can be used for back-ups and you will have a new HDD in the console which may have been cheaper to get than buying the PS3 with the larger space in the first place. Also, you can install a HDD which is faster than a standard PS3 HDD, which is a bonus for loading times, sometimes.

    OR

Just get a larger HDD and install it into the PS3 - and replay GTA V if you didn't get far through it.

Performance optimisations, it streams content from the disc and the hard drive at the same time to overcome RAM limitations. By all rights it should not even run on that hardware. Rockstar are ******* magicians.
