Default Should young children have their ears peirced?

I was walking through town today and have seen many children, as young as 3 with their ears peirced, I think that it is really cruel for you to do this to your kids. Much like religion, people are here to make their own choices, not for their parents to make their choices for them. What do you think?

Personally I think it's fine, It's not that painful but if you get it done at a young age you forget about it when you're older
If you don't have it done and want it done you might put it off due to the pain.
I Had mine done at around 2 or 3 I think & Don't wear earrings now only because the hole is wonky cos i was moving around too much

I think that you need to respect yourself and your body so, In my house it wouldn't be accepted.

I'm not a fan of it, and personally, I would prefer if my children didn't have their ears pierced at all - so I especially wouldn't force it upon them.

Well my sister just had it done and she's 10..... and even i'm slightly uncomfortable with piercings at that age.

Either way, it's entirely up to the parents as it should be - and not the state.

I got it done at 4 and it's the first memory I have bc it was traumatic lol
i just asked my mum about it, she said she only let me because i asked for it and said i really wanted it. at 4 y.o really???? I only wanted it cause my friends had it!! altho i do remember getting one done, crying but still wanting the other done. idk kids should only be allowed it if they ask for it not cause parent think it looks cute. cause i suppose it's a sort of lesson like ok u can have what u want but it's going to be painful and at least if they don't want it it can close up?

+ Lucas respecting your body means doing what YOU want with it so piercings are fine

I think young kids with earrings in just look so... basically I imagine they're the type of people I'd avoid when they're older. i dunno

I think that when they're that age they shouldn't really be given the choice to alter their body like that as they may not really understand that they'll have holes/marks there forever. I guess it isn't too bad though, it's not as if they're getting their lip/nose done at that age which I really really would object to

I don't think piercings are for young children at all, it's something you do when your older IMO. I don't like seeing young children with studs in their ears, it's something you should want to get for yourself and somehow I don't think that's the case in these circumstances
