But Adam, Bob and Chris think they are in on the plan, so they're not bothered - but it turns out, they've all been used.

In reality, I think it will only be possible with items in short demand. I remember I tried to buy out Pink Pillows with Immenseman when there were only 15 or so on the UK hotel.

Anyway, this happens on RuneScape a lot, and it fails miserably. There will be a group of small friends that decide on the item and stock up weeks before hand. They then tell the public what to buy if they want to join in, but the group of friends sell their items way, way early. After a few days, the public get told to dump their items, and because so many get dumped at once, everyone ends up selling them for less then they bought them for (then the group of friends can re-buy them)
Whoa. I never thought about the pyramid scheme but that would make complete sense for a cartel sorta thing like this if vulnerable people are taking part thinking they are gaining profit.

Did this with Gold Nellies on Habbo AU. Can't remember when it was ages ago now but me and a friend bought most of the gnellies on the AU hotel and the price went up by at least 40%

I think stuff like this is risky with the economy being in a slump, but I don't think it's against the rules. It's one thing to buy out all the dragons but it's something completely different to sell them all back at a higher price.

If I remember correctly, someone on this forum tried to do this with aloe veras - the price is now lower than before.

I have not seen those plants around at all lately. Are there still a lot in circulation do you think?

Is that Aussie Gambler? I'm not sure what happened to him, he seemed to disappear . But I remember seeing that he still has the room. But there are a lot of Aloes so he or someone else would need to buy a lot more to push the price up.

    Not online very often

As others have said, it only works sometimes. Often the problem is that people simply pick the wrong rare to hunt down and collect. The romantique_clock on the British hotel for example worked because it was very rare, it was overlooked by everybody which meant that by the time somebody had started collecting the few left in circulation the price went up rapidly.

Items like DJ Decks, Aloe Veras and so on aren't that rare compared to other items and are sustained more so by their looks/reputation than being rare.

And if you wanna buy me flowers

That doesn't quite work with paintbrushes because they are constantly being released into circulation. Retired items are the best investments.

Habbo mentions nothing about price fixing. Its perfectly legit.
