The awards system is just there. There's no motivation or incentive for new members to use it. I suggested the achievements system as a way to give incentive to new users to stay here and as a challenge for older members. It wasn't from a forum, it was from a game that does run completely differently but that doesn't mean these things can't be adapted (see also Habbox Monopoly, Big Brother, The Jungle etc).

General management have ignored my feedback - I'll quote it below - choosing instead to continue a pale imitation of the original idea (an idea you supported when I first suggested it btw) and a carbon copy of the awards system.

    My main concerns are that:

    1. The whole 'sets' thing seems to have been dropped. The easy, medium, hard sets and then the sets of comps, hxl, hxhd, events, forum, habbox (the latter seems to be intact). Adding the difficulty gives motivation for newer users rather than the current awards system of 'oh we'll get that when we get there' attitude which is what I think will happen to it if it goes out as it is. Breaking it down into smaller chunks gives it that edge the awards system doesn't.

    2. Fun! The awards system is very formal and the achievements system doesn't have to be. Admittedly, this might be difficult with comps so this might not be as much of an issue with other departments and this point moot. For instance, "take part in a singalong in the spam forum", y'know it'd foster some community spirit and so on.

    3. Prizes. The sets idea was that to complete a set you'd get prizes. It was meant to be about attracting new users so adding Habbo prizes would give it a selling point on Habbo.

On the plus side, it got done. That's an achievement all by itself! I'd have personally delayed it, explained the reasoning why in a feedback thread and asked for suggestions from the community for the more informal tasks before releasing it but doing it piece by piece will achieve the same goal in the long term (I just hope its simplicity doesn't put people off before its at a more worthwhile phase hence why I'd have delayed it).

I will also say well done to Chris for taking this (what is a very difficult project) when it's not even his job description. I have no idea of the involvement of the other AGMs but technically it'll have been organised by the community AGM so to see it being led by the staff AGM is, best case scenario, a general management team that isn't restricted by technicalities and works as a team or worst case scenario someone else having to step in where no-one else is willing to lead. Sounds like we're somewhere in the middle here!

I personally don't like achievements. Awards seem so much better to me, especially considering how boring the current achievements are.
The day I get to 200 in Ping Pong II is the day my life is complete.
