its upbeat, catchy and now overplayed but I like it.

The message is good and it might not have been the best choice of lyric but the underlying message is still really good.

What I don't really get is a newer artist makes a feel good song and says 1 controversial line which isn't actually controversial but everyone wants it to be = horrible, shaming, bullying
But rappers like Nicki Minaj, rapping about how skinny people should be killed and how fat people should be killed and how people should be killed if they dont have huge butts
Iggy Azelekerhaskfnla rapping about how she will kill anyone who cheats on her or leaves her,
    or pitbul rapping about rape
or quite a few artists talking/singing/rapping about drugs, murder, assault, prostitution, homophobia, gun crime & racism
and ****/fat/skinny/sexuality/etc shaming mindless parodies bullying and making a fool out of any artists and generally spreading negative messages

"oh thats just their music style"

it's not one line tho. the entire song is about how it's better to be "fat". where does nicki minaj say skinny/fat people should be killed? the last part of anaconda is equally as ridiculous as AATB but i'm pretty sure she doesn't say anyone should be killed... the rest of the song is fine because she's just celebrating that part of herself but it all goes wrong when she starts with the whole "**** them skinny *******". which is funny cos trainor uses the "skinny *******" phrase in her song too but you wanna defend that?

as for iggy and pitbull i don't know what songs you're referring to but they're both awful anyway

in that list of things you mentioned i don't see an issue with artists using them as subject matter unless they are promoting things like violence or being racist/homophobic/sexist etc. and no one in this thread has drawn a comparison to another song and said "oh that's just their music style" so i don't understand your point. regardless of how many other artists are also singing about bad stuff, that doesn't cancel out the fact that this song actually (perhaps unintentionally, but still) sends out a bad message.

Haven't got the effort to reply to all of your post maybe tomorrow but 2 points:

oh the nicki minaj thing, I tried to edit my original post but I was too late, I got mix up with another song soz

and my post was a point and a wide generalisation of what kind of comments are on the video, if I was referring to someone on the forum I would have quoted them (because thats the point of a quote post???). The article asked for my opinion on the video and I wasn't talking about any member of the forum, did I mention a member of the forum? did I quote someones comment?

I think the comments on this thread are very valid, and everyone takes song lyrics differently to others and thats fine. I was personally referring to ott comments I've seen on the original video and on critic websites since its release, sorry I didn't make that clear.
