Let's remove the word kill and innocent from this scenario.

Yeah i wouldn't condemn people who choose to save themselves/someone else over a random stranger but personally I probably wouldn't be able to do it. Only reason I would do it is to save my mother. Not because I rely on her but because otherwise my dad would have to leave his nursing home and god knows what would happen to him, my grandmother wouldn't be able to cope on her own but there would be no money for her to go into a home, etc.
But still I would find the decision very difficult so it would be impossible to say what I would do until I'm in the situation.

I suppose there are two ways of looking at your question though:
    >Would you save someone else/yourself over a stranger? (The way I assume most people look at the question)
    >Would you murder a stranger for your own benefit? (The way I can't help but see the question)

Cheeky. Making the question positive. I.e. use of save over kill and removing any subjectivity surrounding the meaning of innocence.

But if people were to kill a stranger/save someone close to themselves then they should understand exactly what they are doing. Wrapping the question up in cotton wool does not take away from the fact that you are both saving and killing.

Would you save a stranger from death by giving your own life?

Apply the above question to the following scenarios

    - a woman with 3 children
    - a convicted felon
    - a stranger in another country being
    - a family member being held for ransom
    - dragga

Would you choose to save a family member or friend over any of these people? Would you choose these over saving 10 people at random across the globe ?

The whole point of me not killing a stranger in Lewis' situations is that I think it's wrong for a human being to be able to choose whether or not another human being gets to live or die.

Interesting question though. I can't decide whether I'd say yes or no to those situations you came up with, Kyle. However I'd either answer yes or no to all four.

I would definitely not give someone else's life to save any of those people. That would give me far too much power. I'd start feeling like life was a Sims game and I was sat at home manipulating all these characters. In regards to giving my own life, I would definitely consider but I don't want to answer a definite yes or no as I'm not actually in the situation.
I think by giving my own life I would make them value their own life much more. I would hope that they would feel obligated to live a good life to honor my sacrifice. Particularly with a criminal; I would hope my sacrifice would make them feel obliged to live a better life.
If a stranger in another country gave up their life for me I would definitely seize every day and make sure I can get as much out of life as possible. I would find their family and support them in any way I can because I owe that person my life now.

    TL;DR: I can't be sure. Definitely wouldn't give up someone else's life.

Lmao then my answer is the same: I can't be sure until I experience it

also omg kylie I feel like this is a competition to try and get me to say I'd kill other people now

I feel like that's a bit if a cop out. Te point of a hypothetical is tha you (hopefully) should never experience it.
