I think someone has updated/messed with the reply feature (tags @Chippiewill; for the sake of it), basically when I post a reply sometimes it just appears with my avatar as a blank post until I refresh it. The edit box has also changed when I go to edit a post too. Is it purposely like this, if it is it's really annoying!
Not sure if it's just me though.

I haven't touched anything with the quick reply system. I would suggest restarting your computer/browser to ensure caches etc. are cleared.
