If your child is ugly then makeup is probably your best bet until they're legal for plastic surgery.

I don't think I actually started wearing makeup until 18ish if not later? I used to wear a but if eyeliner around 16 but that's it really. I'd prefer my children to start wearing it in their later teens if they wanted to.

they all look like little tarts with makeup on

but then again that's probably why they wanna wear it. i'd like to think i'd do a good enough job when they were younger in pointing out how terrible people look with slap

To me it depends how old you mean when you say children. My sister in law just turned 13 and has started wearing subtle makeup, which I think is okay. But caking it on at a young age I would advise against, but I wouldn't really control it.

honestly i wouldn't let my child wear make up until like 14-15. as if you're all saying like 12 :S I started wearing make up around 14 because my mum wouldn't let me wear it earlier than that and honestly i'm glad because now that i look back at the girls that used to wear make up at like 12 they all had orange faces and looked so ridiculous i am embarrassed for them.

I suppose a little cant harm as soon as the child wants to, but I would let them put too much on.

I think its just one of those things that's going to happen more and more as time progresses. Kind of like children having mobile phones/being allowed to go out at a younger age etc these days.

I don't think it's a harmful thing to do if the child wants it, but I don't think the parent should encourage it if the child is really young, it should be when they are ready!

I wouldn't let my child wear makeup if I had one. Maybe a little bit of mascara and eyeliner when they turn like 13

I think it is their freedom? Whether they allow or not, even as young as 10, i think it is okay to let them wear makeup, but not
to school of course during their primary and secondary school days. It might built an interest in them and even leading them
    to their future career!
