bit of a basic 'superhero' premise, they find somewhere super mystifying and cool and end up finding a way to become these uber humans / magical beings / mermaids. been done before, but it's nice to see an origin story at least, i hope it'll be clear in the film what makes them acquire these 'powers' or whatever you'd call it
