1,134 honours handed out from the elite Companion of Honour all the way down to the British Empire Medal. These are just the British honours as other Commonwealth countries list theirs at different times.

Dame Arlene Foster is the most high profile along with actor Damian Lewis OBE.

Quentin Blake on the list is excellent, supreme illustrator bringing life to so many books and getting generation after generation of kids into reading.

Almost surprised people like salman rushdie and damian lewis and quentin blake hadn't had their awards before!! Lots of good names from the sector I work in too.

I know Sir Salman Rushdie got his knighthood in the late 2000s, the Companion of Honour is one of those higher awards that is limited to a certain number at any one time - a bit like the Order of Merit, Order of the Garter and Order of the Thistle. I saw Sir David Attenborough was today inducted into one of the higher orders.

At Windsor Castle, Sir David Attenborough is invested by The Prince of Wales as a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George.
