Me please if not too late
Me please if not too late
Me as wellllllll
here to decrease Mudita chance of winning!
Apologies to the final 3 posters, the draw had been done Thursday night but I wasn't able to get onto the forum all of yesterday
On the plus side because there were 12 people (at the time it was drawn) it made it neat for getting 2 teams each. I did this by randomising the highest 12 in the betting odds, then reversing the list for the next bunch - this means the person getting the "favourite" also gets the lowest ranked country and so on, so those who got a bit of a outlier in the first draw also have a bit of a bonus chance because their 2nd team is a more viable dark horse.
tldr; these are the allocations -
@Shockwave.2CC; with England and Albania
@lucyecc; with France and Georgia
@welshcake; with Germany and Slovenia
@tbl; with Portugal and Slovakia
@Conor; with Spain and Romania
@Kelky; with Italy and Poland
@someboyrafa; with Netherlands and Scotland
@mazehx123; with Belgium and Czechia
@Triz; with Croatia and Hungary
@ErickSloth; with Denmark and Serbia
@.Nat; with Austria and Turkey
@Mudita; with Switzerland and Ukraine
Actually worked out quite nicely for variation, with only Erick having 2 teams in the same group.
We've already had Germany vs Scotland last night, with Lauren's schnitzel taking a mega 5-1 victory over Rafa's haggis.
Stay tuned for the rest of the first round of games finishing up on Tuesdayyyyyyy!

The first 0-0 game of the tournament (boooo that lost me a bet!) and the tables are shaping up quite interestingly.
Hungary are pretty much out after 2 losses, needing an absolute thumping over Scotland and a lot of other results to go their way if they're to remain in the competition. Same goes for Poland who need an unlikely victory over France to have any chance at all.
Germany, Spain, and Portugal are all guaranteed a spot in the next round after 2 victories apiece. England need just 1 point to secure it, so anything other than a loss against Slovenia will do.
Group E (Romania/Belgium/Slovakia/Ukraine) could go any way at all, with all 4 teams currently on 3 points... fight fight fight fight fight

Apologies for not doing a full roundup of the last games, but we are now into the FINAL SIXTEEN. That means some teams are dropped: let's see who remains!
Not-so-neutral Switzerland (Mudita) are right now playing against a very lacklustre Italy (Kelky), and later tonight it's tournament hosts Germany (welshcake) versus pastry-eating Denmark (ErickSloth).
Squeaky bum time tomorrow when boring old England (Shockwave.2CC) take on minnows Slovakia (tbl) followed by Spain (Conor) and their youngsters against a Georgia (lucyecc) who have surprised the world so far.
Monday sees France (lucyecc) see if they can find their shooting boots at last against a similarly struggling Belgium (mazehx123). We'll also have fiery explosive Portugal (tbl) against a slightly soggy Slovenia (welshcake).
Finally on Tuesday there's the unpredictable Romania (Conor) squad hoping to get something from a somewhat shaky Netherlands (someboyrafa), and .Nat will be playing with herself as Austria and Turkey are both her teams.
This means that so far the only person to be out of the competition is Triz! Although not long left for Kelky now sorry pal.

Only 8 teams remain now!
Here's how we line up for the next 2 days:
Spain (Conor) vs Germany (welshcake)
Portugal (tbl) vs France (lucyecc)
England (Shockwave.2CC) vs Switzerland (Mudita)
Netherlands (someboyrafa) vs Turkiye (.Nat)
Commiserations to Kelky, maze, and Erick who didn't make it, also commiserations to my wallet after my own goals offer RIP
WELL WHAT A COUPLE OF DAYS
France ( @lucyecc) make it through against Portugal ( @tbl) on penalties after neither team could score in normal time. France are in the semi finals having scored ABSOLUTELY ZERO GOALS from open play (every one of their goals has been an own goal or a penalty), but also having not conceded anything other than 1 penalty all competition. What even is football?
Up against them is Spain ( @Conor) who also couldn't finish ahead in regular time but managed to squeeze past Germany( @welshcake) 2-1 in the very very last minute of extra time, an unbelievable game with 41 shots, over 1100 passes, and 14 cards given. Chill out gents.
This evening's first game alllllllso couldn't be decided in normal time, with England ( @Shockwave.2CC) drawing 1-1 with Switzerland ( @Mudita) before finally claiming victory after a full 5 penalties were scored - for the first time EVER at a major tournament.
For the last of the quarter finals, an energetic and exciting Turkiye ( @.Nat) weren't enough in the end to beat Netherlands ( @someboyrafa) who advance with a 2-1 victory. Turkiye also got a red card for someone who wasn't even playing, because lol football.
Two days of rest and then straight back in for the semi finalists!
Spain vs France on Tuesday evening and Netherlands vs England on Wednesday. Bloody hell.
It's not actually bloody well coming home is it???????????????
I mean no, Spain look incredible BUT WE CAN DREAM.
One more game to go, and unbelievably after Spain ( @Conor) taught France ( @lucyecc) how to play football in one of the most exciting games of the tournament, the other finalist is England ( @Shockwave.2CC) who finally turned up to beat Netherlands ( @someboyrafa) with the dodgiest penalty decision in history and a late substitution.
ENGLAND VERSUS SPAIN IN THE FINAL. CRIKEY.
