The King and Queen to attend State Visit to USA for 250th independence celebrations

Their Majesties will be hosted by the President and First Lady, with The King travelling on to the British colony of Bermuda

The last State Visit by a British monarch to America was in 2007 when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were hosted by President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush to mark the 400th anniversary of the settlement of Jamestown.

What I find interesting it that The Queen isn't travelling on to Bermuda.

Their Majesties are in Washington DC, staying at Blair House which is the Guest House of the President.

The King today addressed the US Congress, the second time a British/Commonwealth monarch has - the last being in 1991.

A very successful visit. The King has secured tariff removal from Scotch whiskey in a one-on-one meeting with the President.

The Queen now heads back home to Britain, while The King heads to Bermuda for a royal tour of the colony.

Meanwhile, the skyline of New York was lit up red, white, blue and gold in honour of Their Majesties visit.

First time I’ve seen this thread, so I wasn’t aware of the whole situation with Trump removing tariffs and crediting King Charles for it. Thank you for sharing.

I’m absolutely not a Trump fan in the slightest, but I will say it is nice to see a president being so openly supportive and respectful of the Royal Family.
