Very reminiscent of the last hours of Queen Elizabeth II.

Norway's Royal Family have returned to the palace apart from Queen Sonja.

All official state business has been cancelled with politicians recalled back to the realm.

I suspect it is just a waiting game at this point.

Queen Sonja left earlier and was immediately replaced by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit who are there now.

With them keeping an ongoing vigil at his bedside, looks like it could be a matter of hours.

King Harald V of Norway died this morning after 35 years and 223 days on the Norweigan throne.

His son, Crown Prince Haakon, now King Haakon VIII succeeds him alongside his wife Queen Mette-Marit.
