It's all well and good saying "small, local charities" but names would be helpful Does anyone know a friend or a family member who has set up their own charity as a result of a loved one suffering an illness of some sort? That would be a start

Yeah, the 'Laila Milly Foundation' something like that was set up somewhere in my county for their little girl who passed away due to an illness, a few people on tv I've seen donating to it.

    Gets info: http://www.lailamillyfoundation.org.uk/

She passed away a day before her first birthday, she had Aicardi Syndrome, she basically had 20+ epileptic shocks per day etc. the charity now help other families who have children with severe illnesses and I know they've done fun runs and such for them, plus, my college did a fundraiser for it too.

I believe we'd donate to a British charity and in Britain you don't usually have to pay to go to College. Plus, it's not a charity, I'd rather help someone who would benefit more, someone who hasn't got as much and maybe have life-threatening illnesses. Frankly, College Students who can't afford it? Make do with what you can afford, you could hold fundraisers in your town or something of the sort. Then those who go to College might not even benefit from it in the long run.
