I don't think people are being mean, he most certainly brought it on himself with that unflattering joint shot.
on topic, it looks a bit like that tattoo you get one day while drunk then regret it for the rest of your life. Bit like a tramp stamp. And you must have some pretty rubbish tattoo artists around your area, because that is not 'fine' it is wonky and overkilled.
Enjoy it anyway, I hope you have fun with that stuck on your arm for the remainder of your life x
