He was talking about it on radio 2 this morning and that's not what happened at all but I can't remember what it actually was now. I'm sure it would be online somewhere if you dug around.

Top Gear was going to be different the second Clarkson was forced out. I don't think it will appeal to the people on HabboxForum anymore as we're all relatively young but I should think plenty of Radio 2 listeners will be interested now, even if they'd never really watched before. I know my mum was ecstatic that Evans would be taking over and will probably watch it religiously now. I have no interest in cars but did watch occasionally before because I liked the comedy aspect, but I don't think I'll be bothering anymore.

I guess Top Gear will be looking for a new age range for their target audience now. We might all say that this change is for the worse but we won't know until we see it. And I think suddenly the number of middle aged women and the number of whole families sitting down to watch will increase dramatically as Evans seems to appeal to older women (what with being on radio 2 and doing The One Show) and is much more family friendly.

Just have to wait and see I suppose...

I think you're a bit wrong there. Chris Evans is a car nut there's no doubt (mainly vintage super cars), but what isn't as portrayed as much is JC probably being more of a car nut. JC has a HUGE car collection, he just doesn't flaunt them as much as Chris Evans does

I think it will still go down the comedy route. If you've watched any of the earlier TGs you'd realise that they were all about the cars with hardly any comedy. Obviously to reach the bigger niche or whatever that changed and it become more about the comedic value to reach a wider audience.
Personally, I can't see why they would change the direction back to appeal to a smaller audience again - it just wouldn't make sense and it's not how media works

I wasn't trying to say they'd change it on purpose, I was saying that their audience will change inevitably with Evans as he appeals to a different audience than the last trio did. There's no doubt that Chris Evans is a car nut but he just cant do what Clarkson did for TG. I don't know how that'll end up impacting popularity at all though. Hell, maybe it'll even be better overall... I mean, look what Evans does at Car fest.

Top Gear was the biggest BBC show and had a massive audience. A lot of that audience will probably stop watching now. They might bring some new people in but a lot of people won't bother and I can see it ending soon.

Papers are claiming the BBC asked Jeremy back recently but the BBC are denying this. It also looks like the former top gear team will get a new show on another channel.

Just a reminder that the last remaining episode of Top Gear featuring Clarkson, Hammond and May are on BBC Two tonight at 8pm.

Also just came across this on reddit:

Such a sad moment to know that was the end. I do really hope they get together and do a new show like rumours are saying.
