Theres only 2 days left and England have a lead of over 300 runs... so it would mean Australia needing to catch up and then get a good lead to make England bat again (should there be time left)

If England declare now then they have 2 days to try and bowl Australia out for less than 300ish thus winning the test or not getting them out for a small lead which England can then make in the 2 days which are left

But wouldnt it just make more sense for england to just go for it and not allow australia to bat for the next 2 days? or isnt that how it works?

But why not bat until we're all out (maybe getting 700+ runs..?) and then just bowling until the end of the test...they won't make up 500 runs in 1 day.

If Australia dont bat again then it will be a draw... which is not good

But if we already lead by 300 then Australia start with -300 runs which if they then get 700 runs they could be then 400 runs in front whereas if we get them in now we could have a chance to get them out earlier with more time to do it in
