I think it makes more of a difference to have 2 weeks off in the middle of a season, rather than 1 week at the end.

Theres more chance of getting an injury in a cluster of matches towards the end of the season (as their is in La Liga because of the break) than there is in the middle of the season.

I don't think it can be used as an excuse like English people will do once England get knocked out in the Quarter Finals.
