apparently the map size is around 85 miles and 2.5x the size of red dead redemption so sounds very big!

I'm sure that's no where near to scale, even when it says close enough... Hennigan's Stead is pretty small, but it's hard to imagine and compare.

I guess San Andreas would need to be a large map simply to take into account the planes.

That's actually very close to scale, IV is only 2 1/2 miles wide, hennigans steed is one of the smaller areas but is still large in comparison.
