I'm assuming the non green LTD eggs will be turned into teal/pink ones

Wrong. An announcement on the homepage stated that all the Maw-Sit-Sit eggs without a number would be taken away and replaced by ones with numbers. I assume they're doing it manually.

It's worth noting that staff themselves have said that the plans have already changed numerous times, so it wouldn't surprise me if it changes yet again, although I imagine them removing them would still be the most likely thing to happen.

So if the non LTD ones are being removed from the hotel. Then what about people that bought multiple? They just get one LTD as a replacement of say 10?
I wasn't online to buy, was going to though.

As some of you may have noticed, yesterday´s LTD Habberage Egg did not appear as an LTD item. Oops! Don´t fret, we apologize for the hiccup and are working on fixing it! All those who purchased will be donated a new LTD Maw-Sit-Sit Egg, and the original one without LTD status will be taken back. Stay tuned for more info...

So if someone bought one from catalogue yesterday then sold it on, the seller will then be getting an LTD one but the person who bought the non-LTD one will have it taken away and therefore have spent credits on nothing?

That is correct I believe, unless they make the NON-LTD a Recycle item which will then give them a re-coloured egg, and give users 'x' amount of time to recycle before they are permanently removed, and if you don't recycle you lose out
