Well best of luck to Russia - they have a lot of infrastructure to build. FIFA were not very impressed with their visit here and probably subconsciously the Panorama programme could have influenced the vote.
I am very excited about the next rugby world cup in New Zealand. Should be a good one!
And Scotland is hosting Commonwealth Games in 2014, Can't see Russia getting that at anytime. The UK are doing pretty well for big events.
Wasn't really saying it as a bad thing but it shouldn't go by what other events that country is hosting either. As here's another example:
2014 - Brazil will host the world cup
2016 - Brazil will host the Olympic games

Fair play to Russia, I guess it will put their name on the map a little bit more and it's not like we're not hosting anything within the next decade, the olympics will be pretty damn good and at least our olympic team seem to win things and act as though it means something to them!
Maybe by the next time we get a chance to hold the world cup in 2030 ... all of this will be forgotten about once our name is pulled out of the envelope...
... only 20 years to wait for that :/
Oh and as people have said at least we do get the Olympics in 2012![]()

I have left for now but may return in the future!
I see what you mean I guess.Okay lets start saving and get out swim wear ready for Brazil. I would prefer the Olympic games.
That's kinda the point - Russia having the successful bid means more for football as a whole than if we'd won it and simply done a bit of renovation in Milton Keynes lol
Yeah other than this world cup bid Russia haven't really stuck out much in history...
