On Thronecast they were talking about a big change in Stannis character and maybe that's what is going to happen. Perhaps he realises the red women has led him astray and he has ended up killing all of his family just for power. Remember Jamie seems quite a well loved character now but he was hated originally, pushing Bran and making him paralysed.

I think that she believes in her promises. She want's to for example protect the stark daughters after promising her mother even though neither wanted her help.
