Proving you've won MOTM is no different to proving you've won any competition or event.
The dedication award is to be used as a way to recognise those who have shown significant dedication to Habbox in more than just posting. That really is, or at least should be, an award that should be used in cases of distinction only because otherwise it defeats the object of having that award as a separate award to the join date and posting awards.

Member of the Month is a competition, yes, however it is considerably different to another competition because it is about contribution to the forum. The same applies to the Sunday Updates award. It's totally different to events and competitions and I highly doubt those that have won competitions in the past are overly concerned about receiving those awards because MoTM is a lot harder to earn (no offence to events or competitions). I can see what you mean in terms of starting it from now but MOTM is an inherently different competition and I feel giving this award out retrospectively would be a good way of recognising the members who put a lot of effort into posting about the forum in a new and different way.

Ah but that has a time limit, you're a member of the month of a particular month for ever and ever

Besides, the dedication award would include years joined and post count, surely?

I see the point being raised, however as you (and others) have said - my point is also valid.

It was discussed heavily between me and Matt and we came to the decision with reason.

@ Gomme, it depends in what way you've shown dedication really. I'm not sure how General Management will be running it but I think they should probably do some nominations for it in the Managers forum or something soon - no point in having it if it doesn't get used.

It doesn't really explain anything though. Matt has already said in this thread he doesn't have a problem with the MOTM award being issued and it makes perfect sense to me that we give recognition to the members who have given something to the forum in the past.

I'm comps manager and I agree with Gomme - although if anyone's actually interested, it'd be easy for me to work out who's won a competition in the past... well from september 2009 anyway . However, as gomme said, it's not really a contribution towards the forum (although please keep entering ). They're two completely different things under the same umbrella when refered to as a 'competition'.

the only reason you guys are against it is because it's time consuming, the positives outweigh the negatives. just look at all the replies, past winners want the awards & so everyones happy. sure you get vip for M.O.T.M but you don't get anything for Sunday Updates :S (before this was introduced obviously) it looks as though the older members care about this more than newer members & they've contributed more. i really don't see the problem other than sheer lazyness (yeah oli you have exams but i rarely see mattgarner offline - not a dig but yknow..)

Thread is too long so sorry if its been mentioned before: I like the idea of Hx getting into the new achievements style stuff (welcome to the future!) but its going to end up like all the other awesome features (groups, blogs etc) that we implemented: relegated to a link on the navigation at the top and largely ignored. How is this going to be pushed to make it relevant and to make people take notice of it once the novelty of it being new has worn off?

FINEEEE I'll be getting a MOTM award anyway lol and a Sunday Updates if the rep quota is reduced cos that was my idea and it's blates original and nobody else would ever think of it :8

By the way, there needs to be a link within the Awards tab to the page of all the available awards. As it is I the only way I know is whatever I did to first get them.. I think it was via the Announcement thread
