Yes, simplifing the dialogue is a perfect translation because it is aimed at CHILDREN. You can't expect them to leave in Japanese text - children just wouldn't understand. Viz have chosen not to aim One Piece at people of your age - please try and understand that. Also, why the hell would they leave God as Kami in a childrens manga? Enlighten me. This also inforces what I said about you having little hands on experience with Viz, because in 20th Century Boys (a more mature series) they do actually leave God as Kami. The target audience of a manga such as 20th Century Boys is able to understand all of the references to Japanese culture and are able to take in translation notes. The children One Piece is aimed at WILL NOT GET IT.
Yes, you are allowed an opinion, but your reasons for claiming Viz 'suck' are completely absurd. Plus you're only using One Piece as an example, which doesn't even count for 1% of all the manga Viz have released. When you're actually familiar with their work please get back to me, because then your opinion might mean something.
