I'm with Will here. It's not the fact that we're against change (or at least I don't think 80% of the people are) - it's based more on how compatible the User Rank Bars actually are. The last ones went with everything really; these one's just don't. Am I right in thinking that they're just the old ones with the circle bit removed from the left (made so they're fat to cover it), filled with the gradient the old ones had anyway, with the removed colour from the middle which stays the same on them all and then added volter text?
A completely fresh design would be good and I do think a competition would be great, but have competitions worked in the past? Will it work now do you think?

I don't like the diagonal contrasting colours but a competition sounds good. If no decent ones are submitted keep the new ones.

Will be interesting to see if a competition gets any interest. Graphic competitions hardly work when they have been done many times in the past - Not that it's a bad idea in doing one
