In other news, the Habbo Helpers and any other low-key, low-level, useless squads of Habbos never work. The only system that was effective was the Hobba system. Helpers lack any sort of powers to be of any use, especially in cases where Habbos may be discussing anything unsavoury and potentially illegal.

EDIT: Make Omar the CEO, he has this thing called a brain. That debate was quite interesting, he has a good head on his shoulders and it does pick out what is wrong with a site aimed at teens - experimenting with sexuality.

Habbo could probably do something with this, a Q&A session or something - a bit like FRANK, but for sexuality. If done correctly, it could avoid over-sexualising Habbo, in a controlled environment.
You're as bad as a politician talking on matters which you have poorly researched. Helpers are going to have the ability to unlock the power to kick, mute and room ban users. Hobbas cannot be brought back in as they were, this is an effective alternative.

Omar, is a very arrogant and obnoxious teenager. He seems incredibly rude (he kept very abruptly interrupting the females talking), and whilst a good debate can be healthy, he very poorly illustrated his ability to listen to other users. On his twitter account he talks about how he's a social media expert, and that he dislikes people tweeting him about Habbo, yet when i've back-tracked there's not a single post about social media, and his Habbo avatar's motto is actually his twitter identity.

A Q&A session would not work, too many users in too many localizations to effectively govern a Q&A.

You say that Omar picks out what is wrong with a site aimed at teens, but he doesn't. He echo's the concerns of Channel 4. Paul was brought into Habbo with no knowledge of how badly governed the hotel was, in addition to the poor financial state. He's made Sulake money since he's been CEO, and is doing a great job at ensuring the hotel is safe for young teens - the audience it is based for. It isn't aimed at 17, or 20 year olds who spoke in that report.

All completely useless tools. Actual banning would be more useful and the ability to remove rooms completely. Back when i used Habbo people would just create a new account and meet up in the same room they were banned in - and that was for legitimate reasons. Also, they can only find problematic Habbos by being in the same room. As a system they're useless, they might as well bolster the mod system and do away with a volunteer system which is just window dressing on the actual problem.

Being arrogant and obnoxious doesn't make him wrong. The girls were completely missing the point in so many ways - it's still unacceptable for these sorts of things to appear on Habbo. They were diverting away from the point of the debate and were just talking about how they lost their virginity and were meeting up with people they met on Habbo.

Can't argue with you there, after that was posted it seemed like a stupid idea that wouldn't work If it was Habbo.co.uk and not Habbo.com it would work, because UK users can be talked to about UK laws and cultural understandings. Like you said, too many users in too many different locations.

Which are real concerns - not how they lost their virginity which is all I understood from the girls, who then completely glazed over the fact that these sorts of discussions shouldn't be on a site like Habbo. He was bringing up that important fact all the time

Paul is still an incredibly arrogant, egotistical and ignorant man. He is the CEO of Sulake, he should of put his ship in order in a manner of weeks when he was chosen as CEO (despite the fact it should of been under control pre-Paul, the blame rests on everyone involved with Habbo, but Paul is an exception because he's taking control and avoiding the fact that he messed up big time). He's also lost Sulake a hell of a lot of money as CEO, probably more than he's actual made considering it's a two multi-million investments he's lost. Habbo should of been safe before the report. They should get rid of him, his Twitter is evidence to just what a prat he is - lying, deleting tweets, deceitful and not reading the report before it was published - which could of prepared him for the carnage or get him to fix the problems. He's incredibly incompetent.

He promoted Child Safety on Habbo vigorously. Posted his last video, and saying his official good-bye to the habbo community.

But what does "promoting child safety" entail? Did he openly criticize Habbo or something?

    Default The Great Go-Live

So, I was reading up about the mute update as given by Paul.

It sounds like it's going to be another week or so before at the least before I see Habbo unmuted in my region, which I'm not too surprised for. What I am bothered by is this roundabout phrasing about what the hotel is going to be like when it comes back.
Next week I will share details of the new features we are introducing. You already know about the Safety Quiz and the limited chat we are working on now. There are many other new features. Be assured that you will be able to earn greater levels of free expression in an experience progression model you have seen in Habbo Helpers. We are seeking to make the site safer, not limit the appropriate topics you like to share with friends.

The post can be found here.

I'm beginning to wonder if that joke I made about Habbo chat being changed over to a dropdown, pre-written chat system isn't too far off... What do you guys think this means?

Crazy. I hope the final level at least ends in "free" chat. The majority of those who went to the sex rooms were underage and new to Habbo, so I can see how their inexperience would limit their chat and subsequently cut down on the sexual interactions.
