    Deary, deary me.

Anyway for me Coldplay will be in the run in in a few years time. Far too early in their careers to be considered now.

    IMO?Opeth by far...
I just see all these other bands that are so popular and they can't play their instruments for the life of them, and if they can they don't show it so well... they're just show ponies and prove the point that any average group can get into the charts, and that's why people my age are mislead about what great music is.
I'm not saying "hey everybody should like my music" I'm saying that people should get into music on their own instead of copying their friends or listening to what is "cool" today.
There are classics before our time you know.

I have to say that, out of all the bands mentioned so far, Opeth are by far the best. Blackwater Park is a fantastic record. The only thing is, it's impossible to name a 'best band ever'. No matter what you say, there'll be at least one person who disagrees. It's all down to opinions and favourites. So my favourite bands are, in no particular order:

    Neutral Milk Hotel
    The Wrens
    Lightning Bolt
    Animal Collective
    Guided By Voices

which I doubt any of you have heard of. Oh well.

    Greatest or favorite?

*Dont shoot me for saying this*: Led Zeppilin is extremely overrated. I like them, and damn respect them, but they definatly arent as great as people say.

    Hmmmmm...Personal:

-Green Day 1989- 1997 (You guys might not know this, but Green Day died in 1997, they were replaced with people who looked and sounded the same, but had a completely different style of music )
    -Nirvana
    -Foo Fighters
    -Red Hot Chili Peppers

But in not in terms of personal favorites it would probably be The Red Hot Chili Peppers What I love about them is that if you put all their songs on shuffle, its hard to find a song you want to skip.

    agreed, Led Zepplin is overrated
but there are a lot of Chili Pepper songs that I'd skip... but Fruscante is one of my favorite guitarists of all time
