Why in the world would he talk to someone over an IM? or use the internet at all? All they have done is tacked it on the end to gain some publcisty, that has no relivance to the internet at all?
It would have been far easyer for him to simply get people he wanted from real life situations, rather than waste time useing an internet basec chat system when half the time people woulnt even be on the same continent "/

You have completely misunderstood it, Its about the hazards of meeting people online, due to the fact so many kids and teens have done it before and people are still doing it, its a pretty smart movie.

The hazzards of meating people online is media hype and about as real as the threat of bird flu, The media picks up on any internet eliment in any case and hey presto front page news, they make a scare they sell more and get better vewing stats.
Now if we consider the internet accounts for next to none of all ****/murder crimes commited, it starts to come back in to prosptive here, when u can round the stats to 3 points and it still comes out as zilch "/

Now you credit this movie with being so socaly aware, and therefor dealing with this issue, while in realty, the movie premis has been set, without any thought to the cause of meeting, as do most films in the intal start up.
Now the reps for the prodution company provideing the faciltys and cost for a film being made therefor will try to link in to as many issues as possible to gain selling power, This movie thogh looks to have been relativly deveoped already before this issue arrose and was therefor as a put it "tacked on the end" notice a strong deviced between the sequnces envolving the internet, and slight diffences in the composure of the charcters, you can determine a time diffence in the shootings, even when due to reuse of sets for costing reasons, they should have been shot at pretty much the same times.
Also notice how the trailor constaly homes in on the internet arias even thogh it doesnt actaly compose the body of the film itself.

Does this clear things up a little or am i going to have to explain the processs by which movies are made, what a movie is, and when the movies prodcution would have begun in compasoin to the reasent emergance of the internet issue, which is linked in to the groth of super sites such as myspace which has nearly a 3rd of britains populartion as members, or at least are clamed to.

Mine descibed in GREAT detail how the film worked, a little on the film industry and how i make the clame it was tacked on.

The movie itself is simply makeing an advertisng ploy useing the latest socal issue as a basis, same way alot of the new terroism oriented movies are. Previosly they would have been simply action movies without the tacked on edition, the terrism addin gains populaty, the movies now realty in turn with recent events, hey presto, better sails
