Right, firstly, in my opinion, don't get anything by Apple, I now bear a personal grudge against them, long story, i'll tell it if you want...

But me, I personally have the Creative Zen Vision atm:

Priced around £230 and holds 30 Gb, it's well, sort of top of the range atm, and i've had no problems so far...

Right, about 15 months ago I got a 40 Gb iPod for christmas, bear in mind at this point, they had no colour screens. Right so everything was happy happy for about 12 months until the problems started...

The battery died on me ;[

And, knowing my luck, my iPod was out of warranty. All iPods have 1 year warranty which in my view isn't long enough. Right, so I though meh, o well, I love my music so i'll pay for the repair, although I was annoyed. £75, hmm o well, could be worse, I paid it, and sent it off. A few days later, I get a call, Elliot, there's actually 2 things wrong with you're iPod, you're going to have to pay another £110. At that point, I was fuming, I asked for a refund as they didn't tell me this in the first place. So I got my iPod back with no repairs done on it, all I head was a head full of stress.

So now my iPod is just gathering dust on my top shelf.

But then, I still thought I love my music, so that's when I bought the Zen...

    Right, THE END.
