I don't think swimming is the best way to lose weight. Swimming actually can help build upper body (arms, chest area) and lower body (legs) strength - thus more muscle, which weights more tha fat.
Your best bet is to see a dietician about losing weight, and whether you actually need to lose weight. You're more likely to see better results through eating a good, well balanced, diet. Since you're still young it probably isn't best to worry about your weight yet as it's likely to change over the next few years.
