Here's a few tips I found out when I started:

Quick Money Tip:

Send letters with fruit attached to villagers everyday. You will recieve many items. The best items you can recieve are foreign fruit! Plant them and sell the fruit for 500bells each! Make a huge orchard and you'll be rich in no time.

100% Tree Growth Chance:

Simply chop down a tree, dig up the stump and bury the fruit in the hole left. For coconuts to grow, do this process on the beach.
