It's all very double standard with these people though. If they think that being gay is a terrible crime they must also think that eating pork or shrimp, cutting hair or shaving beards, wearing polyester, being a moody teenager, brides who can't prove their virginity, insubordinate slaves, women who wear men's clothes, eating flying insects, cursing or swearing, selling a dog and giving the money to the church, violating parole, touching a chair a menstruating woman has sat on, having sex with a menstruating woman, interbreeding animals other than cows or pigs, planting 2 different crops in the same field, approacing an altar with impaired vision and men having damaged genitals are all equally abominations worthy of being stoned for! Oh, not to mention that touching the most 'unclean' animal, a pig, is a one way ticket to hell.

Being gay is not a choice, but there isn't a gene that decides your sexuality. You start getting a sense of sexuality when you hit puberty, it's caused by environment and other things as you grow up. If it was a gene then identical twins would both be the same sexuality.
