They might be professional looking, but they're not professional.
What are you on about? You don't need a college or university degree to be a professional web and graphics designer. You can tell if someones professional or not by looking at their portfolio of work.

Many people go on Freelance sites and secure 100+ design pieces and then apply for a full-time job in the industry so your talking out of your rear-end on that one.

As for the thread poster, I think we would all like to see your portfolio of work please.

    Damn, beat me too it.

As everyone has said, examples would be good. Although I am not sure if you will ever visit this thread again...

You cant be a professional web designer unless you work for yourself and have a registered company that sells template with your own site and have big name clients.

Someone who's a pre-uni student cannot be a professional web designer. You can't technically work until your 16 anyway.

Professional means people want it, companies want it, companies/people want you, not the other way around.

Because you play for your local football side, doesn't mean your professional. Big clubs want big players, Cole, Henry etc.

    Same with websites

Lol, that statement can and has been proved wrong so many times. Do you think that all of the designers on TemplateMonster or something etc are fully graduated artists? No they do it for a hobby and make a bit of money.

Yes but as Vixt said it does make you a properly qualified professional when you have taken your uni course

No, and they are not professional. They don't have clients of companies, they just sell templates.

Someone who has a Profession means they show great skill in something. It has nothing to do with a College/University degree or anything? You don't need a registered company and it is sort of obvious you need to work for yourself in this case. You cannot be professional if someone helps you

A Professional Footballer shows his skills somehow and gets noticed.

A Professional Golfer shows his skills when playing Golf and a Contract Manager or whatever they are called notices them.

A Professional Webdesigner is someone who shows great skill in creating layouts and pages.

    Notice the word skill

Vixt, you are thinking of the word Profession. Someone who needs to have a College/University degree to work as a Lawyer, Doctor etc. You need to have Qualifications to work for a Profession. But Professional means what you do, not what something is.
