It's a good idea. Try and add a bit more transparency to the white. Some of the corners are a bit sharp too. Try and blur them.

Give the white boxe(s) some transparency so they fit in well with the purple.

The purple for me on the content box is too much. If you going to keep the boxes as purple, I think you should lower the opacity so that it's only just noticeable because it doesn't so much clash, but goes with the background colour too much and doesn't look right.

The "banner" part of the layout is a bit bland. It's clean, i'm not liking the font you used for the "ipodmusic.net" but the font underneath is quite nice. The banner "space" is a bit big and the music notes are a bit noticeable? I think you should've made an actual banner box as that's what most layouts have and if your not having one, it has to work and quite frankly, on this layout, it doesn't.

The links are hard to see and you have to squint to make out what they say if you don't have very good vision. Also the links need to be centered. The random green bit on the links part has some pixel errors and doesn't really go with the rest of the layout. Although it is part of an actual iPod, green and purple just don't go.

As The Almighty One picked out there are some pixel errors. There are the music notes at the bottom. The bottom left of the actual iPod. There is also a funny bit at the bottom of the left hand side of the iPod.

Along with this, it's going to be a devil to code with the content not being an actual square/oblong. Although there probably is a way round this, I would'nt know, not being a coder.

Please Note: The iPod "round" bit doesn't look right, don't know why. I think the drop shadow needs to be decreased in opacity.
