If you've got an alphanumeric password, with upper case and lower case characters, and at least 8 characters, brute forcers are the least of your worries. Look at it:
    26 lower case characters available
    26 upper case characters available
    10 digits available
    That totals 62 potential characters.

Now, let's take those 62 potential characters, and multiply them by the power of 8.

    62^8 = 281474976710656

That's a hell of a lot of possible combinations. Even with an automated system guessing 1 million passwords a minute (which - let's face it, is not feasible to your average Jim), it would take over a year to go through them all. Now, I am fairly sure nobody is going to leave a system that's gonna require quite some power and TLC running for a year, just to get a Habbo password. Plus, by then, you've likely changed your password. I daresay Sulake/Habbo also have systems in place to prevent brute forcing, hence "brute force hackings" never seem to be reported.

Password guides are there for a reason - but ideally you want your passwords to be different for different websites, such as email. Which leads me onto security questions. I hate security questions. I prefer a safe password over security questions any day of the week. If you choose security questions, as a general rule, don't use the default ones. Many people let slip of the information necessary for these security questions in general conversation (another reason why you're not allowed to give out personal information, maybe?). Plus, your friends might know quite a few of the answers to your security questions - and yes, "friends" can backstab.

If you insist on security questions, set the questions to be "uber difficult", and something that only you would ever need to know. Of course people know who your mother's maiden name is. But please, please... if someone brings up one of the topics used in your security questions mid-conversation, sniff the rat out. Security questions are more easily leaked than passwords - that's why I hate them.

Speaking of which - if people don't know the email address you use for Habbo, they've then got to guess both the email address and password. Come on - many email services are free, but people forget this and use the same email address for everything. :s

Good antivirus/spyware program, combined with a good firewall, and you're covered there. Scan all downloads you receive (even from your friends), and have your firewall on high settings. Okay, you've got to manually unblock some programs, but you only have to do it once, then you're covered. If you see something you don't recognise requesting access to the Internet, decline. You've got a keylogger, but it can't send the data out - what use is that? Of course, you are then free to clean your computer with your favourite bug spray.

If someone is going to try and get access to your Habbo account - it's likely that they know you. If you have taken adequate security measures, you've got nothing to panic about.

And is it really a necessity to moan about a technicality, when it is not a technicality at all - just a word with an ambiguous meaning due to the development and usage of the word over recent words. If you want to discuss the "definition controversy", feel free to post a thread somewhere after reading the following:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker_...on_controversy

There are safety guides littered everywhere. The chances of getting someone banned for gaining unauthorised access to your account are very slim... and I would be more concerned about securing my account and my computer than about that individual. But yes; given sufficient evidence, people can get banned. It's just a lot of hassle chasing it up - especially if it was user fault.

Edit: And to emphasise what Tiggen said - common sense is the most important tool of all. If you don't have any - you probably need to get some, fast.

That's not hacking. Hacking is literally going through the coding and changing it. Guessing your secret question or knowing your password is NOThacking. That is account hijacking (or something along those lines).

If you get "Hacked" or "Keylogged" you're doing something wrong, thats all i can say. People have to remember that, for an example, if they have friends on habbo on their msn messenger list and they use that email for their habbo, a habbo may try and access that email by guessing you're secret question to get into you're email account, and if the question is easy enough, or they have managed to ask you it without you realising why they are asking you such an odd question such as "What is you're favourite film" and that is the question you have, then, personally, i think it's of no one's fault but you're own!

This is one of the more common ways to be "hacked" and if you have half a brain, you will either use a seperate email or have a question on you're name that no one knows Wow, i hope that makes sense guys!
