We do in our shop, but we don't put them in the till, because we could mistakely give it to someone for change on accident. What we do is, if we are given one, we have to check if it's real, by looking for the Queen's head, then another colleague or two has to agree, and then we just put it in the cash catche under the till.

I've never even seen one tbh, I would just go for the safest option and get it changed at that bank though, it's probably your best bet.
