I agree with you two... I say it to everyone - at 13, you have better things to worry about than your weight and what you look like. I'm saying that at 12, and I quite frankly don't give a toss.

    I agree.

Buy a pedometer, which you can buy fairly cheap, and make sure you do at least 10,000 steps a day, and eat your 5 fruit and veg and a balanced diet. Don't plan your every move, meal and snack. Just go with the flow.

I'd have to agree with you. Keep your body in shape possibly with running like you said, pedometer would be good, possibly buying a running or biking machine are good ways to keep fit and get stronger. 5 a day is a good idea, shame I can't do 5 a day more like 2 a day for me.

and me! but if someone really cares, they'll make an effort for their 5-a-day won't they?

I don't know where you all are getting this stuff. I started getting into an active lifestyle by the time I was 12. It was required for me to start weight lifting when I got into competitive sports when I was in middle school to high school. I don't think there's anything wrong with weight lifting at a young age if you do it properly. Shaquille O'neil weight lifted way younger than 16, and I don't see any underdevelopment in his case.
    Oh no you did not.

We just don't want them to do it wrong and be underdeveloped, and we don't know how to do it properly, so what else?

That's why you're suppose to be supervised? If you don't want to be supervised then learn how do it properly. Trust me, it isn't that hard.
    Oh no you did not.

At 13 you wanna just be looking to lift and shift your own body weight, push-ups, chin-ups, that way you're using yourself as your own weight, well within your capabilities and doing yourself a lot of good.

at your age i believe it would be far more beneficial to concentrate on the cardiovascular machines & workouts rather than resistance & weights.

    just my point of view.
you'll be far healthier for it.
