It is part of a continent, the same continent as australia, you were just calling it the wrong name
Australia and New Zeland are both part of Oceania, along with a few other countries I can't remember.![]()

It is 1 of the names given to the continent which Australia and New Zeland are in. Although according to Wikipedia, it also says (by search continent) that new zeland is in the continent "Australia".
