No offence, but you have a bad taste of colour.
You should have something graphical - make a large 32 semi circle in photoshop with dark blue at the bottom and light at the top? then a blue background for example.
I'll show you what I mean in a min if I can be bothered.

You want something colourful, to attract all types of people. It looks like an emo panel really. You wouldn't see that on Fansites for Habbo for example - would you?
